Reverse psychology as defined by Wikipedia is a technique involving the assertion of a belief or behavior that is opposite to the one desired, with the expectation that this approach will encourage the subject of the persuasion to do what actually is desired.
So here in order to make you an optimist we present you the idea of pessimist hoping you’ll become more positive and confident about things around you.
Some people always look on the negative side. Having a tendency to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen.
Who are pessimists?
Take a look at these few points and if any of the point matches your life viewpoint than you may be pessimist.
#1 Don’t see the doughnut only the hole
To present this fact let’s see a story
There was a man once who bought a dog, one of a kind that could walk on water.
The man invited his friend to go duck hunting so that he can show off his new acquisition.
After some time they shot a few duck and the man ordered his dog to fetch the birds.
The man was hoping to get some compliments about how amazing the dog was but got none.
So at their way back home he asked his friend if he noticed anything unusual about his dog.
The friend replied “Yes, in fact I did notice something unusual your dog doesn’t know how to swim.”
So don’t be like the friend, be someone who appreciates good in people so they feel motivated when they are with you.
#2 Stop sleeping in bed when they hear that more people die in bed than anywhere else
This is also common among pessimists that they believe everything that they hear.
You must know the facts completely before believing in anything that someone says.
Train your mind to do an in-depth analysis of given situation before believing blindly to anything. In todays world there is lot of false information and it is up to you that you filter the negative and positive side.
#3 Cannot enjoy your health because you think you may be sick tomorrow
Losers always see problem in every situation and winner tend to focus on the opportunity the situation has created so that they can grow further.
For pessimist the glass is always half empty.
Whatever you present to them they will make sure to see the negative side only.
This attitude counters anything good that is happening to them.
So forget about past as you can’t change it and don’t think about future as you haven’t seen it yet.
Try to live your present to the fullest as it is only thing that you have a little control of.
#4 Believe that sun shines only to cast shadow
If you think that everything wrong happens to you then you are only counting your troubles, start counting your blessings too and learn to show gratitude towards the things you have and you may get a positive attitude that not only will help you but also the people around you.
Every problem comes with a bigger opportunity so don’t think how hard it is to solve the problem instead think about the teaching it’ll provide.
#5 Feel bad when you feel good, for fear you will feel worse when the feel better
If you feel like this than It’s actually not unusual feeling. People do feel more anxious following good news or hard-earned success than you do when you’re putting out fires or working hard.
As Carla Marie Manly, California-based clinical psychologist says
“The brain’s fear circuit works very quickly, and it doesn’t always pause to differentiate between good anxiety and bad.”
Being more open to positive outcomes can reduce the likelihood that good things will feel like a mistake to your brain and trigger anxiety.
To put this into practice, spend a few seconds at a time truly savoring a good experience when it happens.
It doesn’t have to be something monumental; it can be the softness of your pillow after a long day. Each time you do this, you train your brain to experience positive emotions more easily.
This reaction may also be exacerbated by an underlying belief that the good event will probably be followed by something bad perhaps because in your past, bad things that have happened to you often transpired when you were doing well or things were relatively calm, So instead of enjoying the moment, you spend that time waiting for the other shoe to drop.
So with this we wrap our post and hopes that you’ll think only of the best, work only of the best, and expect only the best.
Be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own “spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others. Be too big for worry and too noble for anger.”
